Off the bat, I was impressed that this time they actually included an insert card explaining the products unlike last time. Perhaps they listened to my suggestion considering my marketing background, or perhaps their fulfillment department totally screwed up last month.
Either way, the July theme was "Beach Beauty" and it looked like this:
Here is what was inside:
1 : Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion, $26 for 4.2 oz
I've never used Kiehl's products before and I actually liked the consistency of this lotion. It felt very smooth and lightweight and my skin felt soft for several hours after application. What I didn't like was the scent, or lack thereof I should say. I think they are going for the fragrance-free, all-natural effect but I much prefer the lightly-scented Biodroga Puran Formula oil-free lotion I currently use.
2 : Circus by Andrea's Choice Nail Polish (not available until Fall 2012)
Fail. I am more of a light pink, classic red or coral colored nail polish wearer, so this product will do me no good. It actually hurts my eyes to look at it for too long. I'm also still rocking the no-chip manicure that I got about 10 days ago (the longest a no-chip has ever lasted me) so I didn't even test this out for the consistency. It appears to be as thin and smooth as Essie or OPI however. If you're into bright yellow nail polish, let me know and I'll regift this to you.
3 : Nu-Me Hydro Punch Hydrating Conditioner, $24.99 for 8.5 oz
This smelled really good at first, but after a few minutes of letting it penetrate into my hair the scent became overwhelming and a bit too perfume-like. I will say that it left my hair smooth, but I'm just going to stick with my current Redken hair products.
Eek. I'm not a fan of lip stains in general and this one was just a little too bubblegum pink for me. It also didn't stay on very long. In addition to lip color, this product also doubles as a cheek stain. Call me crazy, but I don't to draw on my cheeks with the fine-tipped marker applicator. I will be tossing this one.
5 : Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes, $5.99 for 30 wipes
I love the smell of cucumbers so this product was a win for me. I used one the other day after the gym and felt so refreshed. I'm not one to shower at the gym if I don't have to, so I usually drive home and then clean up. But for the 10-15 minutes until that happens, this is a great product to give your skin a refreshing and naturally-smelling boost.
Again, I'm not overly impressed with MyGlam but I'm giving them one more month then I'll likely be canceling my monthly subscription. Does anyone else subscribe to MyGlam? I read all the Birchbox reviews and am fully convinced these are hit or miss...with a lot more misses than hits in each box.
I also just received my bluum box in the mail yesterday so stay tuned for updates on those mom and baby product samples.
